R888's on G60 steelies?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Need a bit of advice please people
The time has come for me to get some wheels and tyres but i need some opinions. My car is now a weekend car as i now have a work van and i don't really use it in the wet so the prospect of running street legal slicks is now quite tempting.
After doing a bit of reading most people seem to say that a 15x7 wheel and 195/50/15 tyre combo is the best performance wise. The problem i have is that i really want to get some G60 steelies but they're 15x6 irrc.
Would i notice any negative effects of running 195/50/15 toyo R888's on steelies? Are there any other 15x7 wheels worth considering?
Any opinions much appriciated

On the last trackday I did I had 195/60/14 tyres on a 6j rim. When you look at the tyre its the opposite of the stretched look. Obviously the aspect ratio being different means you will have less sidewall but im my case it felt like the tyre was really leaning over on the rim and loosing traction too easily on the corners compounded by the pressure being too high in the tyre.

Yeah thats one of the things i was worried about. Doe's anyone know if i might have this problem? I would just get 7x15 alloys but i really want to keep things as subtle as possible and steelies are perfect

WHY???
they are too narrow and too heavy. The only point in those wheels is the purpose they were designed for, winter wheels that fit over G60 brakes.

If you really want to keep the G60's then you should be okay with the 888's, they have a stiffer sidewall than usual road tyres so shouldn't have too much flex even on a narrower rim. If you check the toyo website i think they have got a suggested fitment guide for different size wheels and tyres.
A:

Thanks for the input folks.
Just checked the toyo website and it recommends 5.5 - 7 inch wheels for that tyre. So they should be ok. I know they're narrow and heavy but i'll probably see how they go. If worst comes to worst i'm sure i won't have too much trouble getting rid of them and putting the tyres onto something else.

And they're easy to wash
A:

get alloys
paint them black
don't bother washing them
works for me!

our citroen comes with 6j wheels as stock with 195 tyres - factory fitment - so should be fine

i have run 205/50 p zero C dry tyre( road legal race tyre) on a 6j wheel g60 steel rim, was ok for the road with the correct tyre pressures but wouldnt run that size on track. a 195 should be fine

Sweet, thanks people
Got me steelies ready to have the tyres fitted tomorrow so i'll let ya know what i think of them.
