tie DO I REALLY HAVE TO rod arm

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

unfortunately tommorow i have the ominous job of changing my passenenger side tie road arm. not only does it seem to be completely inacessable but the haynes manual just takes the outright p*%s, as usual. so any help would be greatly accepted
p.s. the reason im doing it is because last owner welded the ball joint onto it!
thanks in advance

I take it the trackrod end is shot? I only ask because from the factory the passenger end was set on certain models and you only adjust the drivers side to get the tracking right. Try a search as there've been load of threads on this. TBH the Haynes seems fairly straightforward as the actual balljoint is a seal unit on the end of the rod. It just screws into the end of the rack and is held with a locknut - it should all make sense once you've got the rack boot peeled back.

cheers for the help, just got the stage of doing it and realised mug boy at ECP has given me adjustable tie rod. anyway took the chance to retighten my rear wheel bearings as the wheels seem to be rocking slightly. Two questions, firstly am i right in saying i tighten the hub/bearing centre to axle bolt to correct torque and then slacken ever so slightly? secondly it has adjusted my brake caliper and it appears to be in contact with the disc, opinion wise adjust it or just drive?

you can only get ajustable tie rods as replacements

You need to buy a complete track rod when you do the passenger side of an non-pas car, as the legth of them is not adjustible. Also do not listen to the legth haynes says for the track rods, 410mm is WAY too long, there isn't any thread if you set it that long! Measure the old rod before you remove it

so after some close inspection it appears theres two opinions. ive read previous threads and it seems you can pick up non adjustable or adjustable. hhhmmm hard decision as i have just had my tow, camber and tracking set by a decent company which did seem alright but then it still pulls to the right. If i out an adjustable tie rod on will it sort tracking problems? as i said previous i have a balljoint passenegr side welded on but this is the one to be replaced. i cant see how that weld would make my car pull to the right but what else could it be? as im going to change it anyway ill see what happens but any ideas?
A:

You can't buy non-adjustible arms, only adjustible ones. You only need to replace the non-adjustible track rod if the ball joint is unservicable

ok thanks for the help, lets hope it solves my offline steering issues
