A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I have a mk1 golf gti 1.8 (Y reg), just yesterday the gear change and consumption indicator (the yellow led that lights up as well as the mpg arrow) stopped working. I've looked through the haynes manual and still haven't found a remedy. Would really appreciate any help.

I think it has to do with the reverse light switch

I have replaced the reverse light switch, still had no joy! could it be a fuse??? I'm struggling for ideas!!!
A:
It should only work in top gear, just incase you dont know
Check the rubber pipe leading from the dizzy...should be a black connector along the way which the pipe passes through.
Just check that the pipe is good, and the leccy connector is still on there.
ps:the screw in the black leccy thing adjusts the yellow shift light

Cheers, i'm going to try a check it out today, just a quick point and i'm sorry if it sounds stupid but could you tell what a 'dizzy' is? and where i can find it? also by leccy am i right in thinking you mean electrical? Thanks again
A:
I've checked the rubber pipe leading out the 'dizzy' everything looks sounds, there is no broken connection all connections are still in place and the black leccy connection is still on. I gave everything a good clean but have had still no joy!!! Appreciated your help.

Hi m8,does the mpg reading on the digital mfa work accurately?
Its worth following the rubber pipe right through the bulk head from the inlet manifold to the back of the clocks.
if i remember right (been a while since playing with mk1's) the rubber pipes connect somewhere...the one from dizzy, and the one from inlet manifold, and both lead to the clocks.
And yep leccy=electrical, and the dizzy is where all your plug leads come from.
Neil.

Hi Neil,
Yep the digital mfa works fine, mpg, clock, miles, outside temp, etc all working fine.
I going to follow the rubber pipe right through the bulk head to check all connections - will let you know how i do.
Thanks again
