Hi, i have a mk2 16valver. I wish to fit front fog/driving lights. Car is an early small bumper model. I would like to know where the main loom for the front fog/driving ends as car has two position switch. Mainly is the switch wired to say where it goes through the bulkhead or does it go further. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ah someone that has the same prob as me, we are a rare breed , i managed to source a pair of genuine small bumper fogs and brakets, if you look behind the main headlights there is a small rubber plug incorperated in the light loom i believe this to be the takeoff for the fogs, fogs were a optional extra on small bumper but due to the fact hardley anyone had them there is very little info on fitting them, i'm getting the battery on tomorrow as i have been rebuilding the car and i'm going to do a few electrical tests to see whether it is the fog takeoff, i'll get back to you with the results, good luck

if you are using the fog light switch you will have to use the 2 pin connector under the expansion tank as this is where the big bumper model takes its feed from its a white plug with yellow/white and a brown wire in

Good call, i've tested the plug behind the expansion tank and on the first position on the fog light switch the plug is live, question is does this feed a relay which then switches the fogs or does it feed the lights direct ?

i will feed the lights directly but i i were you i would fit your own relay :)

there should be a relay for front fogs, on a pre-90 MK2 its position 7 (bottom left) and post 90 is position 10 (3rd from right). The fog relay is the same as the horn relay
Edit: You'll probably find a metal jumper in the fog light relay position, remove this before fitting the fog relay.

Done a bit more research and the fog light loom is a seperate (small loom)which plugs into the previously mentioned plug under the expansion tank and is interchangeable from big bumper to small bumper any good vw breakers will have one, as the previous fellow said make sure the relay is in add this loom and there you have it small bumper fogs.
