Hi there im having problems with the Dial Lights and fan heater lights, they are not working and is not possible to see in the dark what speed im doing, ive checked a number of Fuses but cant see anything Blown..... Any suggestions

if its only the panel in the centre console under stereo then u can change the bulb or the connector is loose. pry off panel around dials, pull out ash tray and there are 6 screws to undo. carefully lift out plastic surround, find plastic bulb holder and find suitable replacement.

Hi thanks for the reply but i dont think its the bulbs as i changed the ones a month after i brought the car in Feb, the ones above the Dials, the Fan heater ones, have gone too, ???!

Have you done anything with the headunit wiring? reason I ask is that there is an illumination wire which controls all interior lights, if that gets shorted then they won't come on. (think its the thin grey/blue wire). Do any of your other interior lights work, say glove box, boot, headlight switch when off, reading lights when door open?

Yea, well i havent touched anything, lol, no wiring at all, the glovebox light still works all other lights work when i open the door, the only ones not working is the Fan Heater controls and the Lights that shine onto the Speedometer Dials. i pulled out a number of fuses all still fine and pushed them all in again, but no joy, and as it was dark didnt get time to look at anything else,

Hmm.. I see... well if other interior lights work, then fuse is def fine. I can only guess its the wiring going, although unlikely as other lights would probably go too... or the bulbs going, can't think of anything else that would cause it.

I know im right puzzled on this one, Thanks for your help, hopefully if there is light when i get home later ill have another go, ive not touched any wiring on this car, so i cant see whats gone wrong, but ill let you know if i do get it working.....oh and by the way your car is real nice, the comps suit it !!! ive got a 5 Door 8v GTi, love it, i want some alloys too but depends on how funds are looking after the MOT later this month, lol

Hehehe... guess what, just read on another forum. Done this myself too, have you tried adjusting the dimmer switch next to the headlight switch? You'll be kicking yourself if its this!

URr, Deer, yes you were totally right, i must have done the dimmer switch at some point yesterday, now i feel real silly, lol, there was pictures on here a few months back, nothing really has changed to it, low funds ! apart from a cheap Nurburgring sticker on the back which i think looks quality, lol
