R32 non-starter......help!

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hi All,
I have a problem, got into my car yesterday morning, put key in ignition turned, all warning lights come on and go off as normal, try to start the car and nothing happens.....
Arrive home try car, starts first time, take it down to my local Vw garage and the guys pluged it in, did a full diagnostic test and found nothing.
This morning the same happened, but the car started on the fourth turn of the key. And the car also started first time on the return journey from work this afternoon.
Both mornings have been super damp with a mild frost, but the car has never missed a beat in 2 years and this has never been a problem before.
Can anyone help me.............

I've come across the same symtoms when the battery is on the way out ( on a R32 last week )
when the weather has warmed up the charge kick in the starter in, but a cold morning you have nothing.....

did they do a droptest on it?? (they should of for problem starting IMO)
welcome online leonski, were full of useful info between us, everything from mk1's to mk5's!!!

Is the starter turning, but the engine refuses to start? Or no starter at all?
I have found the fuel pump relay can be intermittent, and caused the starter to spin, but the engine wouldnt start.
If you dont have a starter, then it must be related to the solenoid valve actuated from the ignition switch?
A:

Cheers for your replies guys,
No starter at all, but what was odd is that the engine was dead for the first several turns, but then acted as normal on the forth or fifth attempt.
This morning was a lot warmer and the beast started as normal.........don't you just hate gremlins!
Cheers
Leon.

sounds like the battery to me mate

Battery or dickie starter. I just paid £110 for a reconditioned bosch starter for my mk2 and the other day when I tried to start the car it did nothing! No turning over, not even a clicking from the solenoid. It's been fine apart from that one instance though. Dodgy bushes maybe.
A:

Could be a faulty ignition switch, get the battery checked. If it's ok then turn on the interior light and when you turn the ignition, if the light dims then the starter motor is drawing power but not turning. If the light doesn't dim, its likely that your ignition switch is faulty.
A:

Changed battery, although the other seemed to show up fine, but you never know.....its the only thing I thought it could be as it only acted up in the cold.
A:

Well changing the battery didn't work!
But why o why does it only happen when its cold?!!!!
A:

Yep, it was the ignition switch!
Cheers for all advice.
Leon.
