A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Quick one, if anyone has done before,
On my drivers door (97 VR) the 'auto' up no longer works. It does for the passenger side (from the drivers switch).
I have all the wiring diagrams etc, but they are a little confusing, and i havnt taken apart the door yet.
I have repaired the damaged cabling between body and door, in the rubber boot - but am seeking other thoughts as to what migh be causing it?
Is there a controller that actions the auto feature? Can these fail, while the window still works?
If anyone can help, ill probably take the door panel off at some point soon - just want to go diving in!
Also - does anyone know if its possible to change the colour of the dash illumination in the MK3? And how difficult is the job.
Cheers
Cheers.

Dash illumination can be changed, all you need to do is remove the green LED bulbs and replace them for whatever colour you like. My mate changed his to blue (including the heated rear window switch) looks cool!
BTW nice looking Golf!

cheers for that - might consider red or something - would like cool - although blue is nice!
The golf is looking a little meaner now than in the pic - she now has a debagded grill - ill get another tag soon!
Anyone got any ideas on the window problem?
TIA

I changed the dash switches in mine to red. fiddly job in places but it's preety much done. Couple of issues however, the headlight switch has green filters in the fascia which can't be changed (as far as i know), and the heater controls need a bit of imagination to do properly otherwise the light doesnt spread or it's quite dim. I coloured the bulb and the ends of the clear plastic diffuser (SOME ARE GREEN!!!) with a permanent red marker pen in the end. Secondly, the diffuer in the middle of the centre (heat) control knob was green. I swapped this for a clear one from either of the side knobs.
As for the auto-up (and down) feature on the electric windows, I believe this can be reprogrammed on each door. I don't know how to do it though, so im watching this space for when some one posts the answer...!

hi - cheers for that info -- might have to leave them green for a while yet then!
I did try to re-program the auto-up - I have the method down somewhere - but it didnt fix the problem - I think the fault is more serious, as the full-closure doesnt work on that window (i assume part of the same problem) and it also doesnt shut the sunroof (maybe again part of the same thing?
Any help greatly received.
