A&Q about 350Z
Q:
i have recently changed over to 16v engine in my 89 8v digi. i am running carbs an so wiring is limited to a few problems. I now need to change my ecu to a 16v and need some advise. Could i just plug a 16v ecu into my current wiring loom? hhhmmm doesnt seem right. also im trying to work out what needs connecting to ecu for my carbs. a friend helped me and now is out of the country.
I think I need -
ignition coil
oil temp/sender
water temp
fuel pump
earth lead
anything else?
please help, wiring to me is like deoderant to a french person. i have potential with my car but its limited by the ecu
A:
lo fella,
this is from Mk1 Driver from this forum, so no credit for me
__________
Part A - is a vacuum tube conect it to the manifold or brake servo pipe
Part B - fuel pump wiring - it basically tells the fuel pump relay to turn the fuel pump on - you can get away without using this you can run a power feed from the ignition switch
Part C - is an earth , put it directly to the battery (-)
Part D - E - is the conections for the coil, check the haynes manual
Part F - is another earth put this on back right rocker cover bolt
Part G - Is the conector for the distributor
Part H - water temp sensor - put this on the head under the distributor area
My input
A - this is the vacume advance, the ecu needs this to advance the ignition timing at higher revs
B - i didnt use this as im using a facet pump with a direct ignition live feed.
C - as said straight to the (-) in your batery.
D - this part will plug into the coil.
F - goes on the head near the dizy. there should be another earth there allready
G - plugs into the dizy
H - as said there are 3 temp senders, this needs to go to one of them.
once you have got your head round the 16v loom you can remove the 8v ignition loom, it plugs into the same place on the coil and has a (-) feed from the battery, simply take it all out and replace it with the 16 one. jobs a good'n
as for your oil temp sender the standar 8v loom will just plug into the same place on the 16v.
hope iv helped.
Jason.
