A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Hello all
ok to give u a quick run down
A friend of ours has a LHD G60 which charger blew and i sourced him a 1994 corrado vr6 lump AG Ecu code
We s***ed it out within 24 hours all in etc but its now been three weeks and still cant get the damm thing started
we tried the coil pack and crank sensor on other vr lump and worked perfectly and wont run on his
tried the ecu relay still nothing
Weve got power at the ECU at the coil pack crank sensor Air flow meter and water pump and fuel pump comes on
the strange thing is that water pump and fuel pump come on intermitten where on the other running vr its on all the time stays on with ignition
so that might be a clue
weve tested relays etc and only one that doesnt seem right either is the one on the engine loom 53 as if u by pass this fuel pump stays on solid but not water pump and we think its the lambda heater relay
so that you know weve tested all wires and perfect continuity even soursce another ag ecu and another compelte loom and ecu A out of a working car and still same results
if anyone cant help i appreciate it before we drop this car of the edge of a cliff :D
A:
when you crank it have you still got power to sensors WHILE your cranking?
A:
yep
one poitn we didnt then found a wire not connected
but weve got to a point where there is power
A:
Engine is grounded out all good? No oli/rust around crank sensor.
So youve got everything apart from spark? Has it ever attemped to fire at all?
A:
all gorunds perfect
tried the crank and coilpack on this engine on another started straight away
also never fired up just nice healthy crank and no spark
the one weird thing is that the elecctronic water pump comes on and off when it wants
also fuel pump sometimes doesnt prime
also make thanx for helping out
A:
Water pump and fuel aint on the same circut are they? not got a diagram to hand.
Wouldnt take no notice of the fuel pump not priming as long as its working when you crank.
What wires have you got left over at the fuse box end of the vr loom? What you you done with the red/yellow one?
A:
im not sure need a to look at a wiring diagram
top my head cant remember ill try look at whats left to be pluged in tomorrow
A:
On my 0BD II VR the fuel pump doesn't prime with key on. only when cranking.
A:
I know you've replaced the loom, but are the pins ok in the big round connector on the engine, a mates VR wouldn't start recently and it had a pin bent in there.
A:
Hello all
sorry for late reply but been busy
ok checked everything and even against a my own new golf vr and the only difference was that when ur cranking the trigger voltage at coil pack is max 2 volts where on my golf is 3. something
not sure if that would stop it firing the coil but we s***ed every thing over i.e sensors and didnt start still
so any idea guys?
A:
hello GVK we checked all pins etc even continuety to the ecu and all perfect
A:
Sounds like bad earths, you checked everyone?
What wires have you got left over at the fuse box end of the vr loom? What you you done with the red/yellow one?
A:
you never said what you did with the red/yell ECU perm live connection????
A:
hello all im have the same problem with my vr ive just got, wich wire on the coil should send the pulse be on the middle1?
A:
ok guys added 4 gauge amp cable on top of the normal negatives form the engien direct to battery and made no difffernce at all
also is the red/yellow wire by itself? what connector is meant to be on the end of it?
ill try have a look at the car a.s.a.p
again thanx for ur help guys
A:
Red/yell wire runs into car on it's own, should have a red single pin plug on the end. Cut the plug off, attach a spade connector and run it to Y1 on the fusebox - there's pics and a idea what to do on my thread, page 5 or 6 I think. Click the link below my sig.
If you think thats done correctly and still no joy, test the ECU perm live by connecting a multimeter to pin 54 on the ecu connector and check for 12v to it.
Edit: ok you said in the first post you have power to the ecu, so the red/yell connection won't be the issue. Have you fitted the motronic ecu relay to the fusebox?
A:
ok mate ill check
where is Y1 out of interest?
and whats meant to be going to it 12+, iginition+ or negativve trigger?
Also yep got all the power at the right places
also where running VR 109 ECU relay and 67 fuel relay so everything shoudl be cool
A:
From my thread - the wire provides the perm live 12v feed to the ECU. Have you checked the power there - pin 54 from the ecu plug should read a perm 12v. I just used the standard number 80 fuel pump realy, works fine.
....
A quick guide to the fusebox end of things. Here you see the 3 white engine harness plugs and the perm live - noptice mine's red/grey-ish - it's normally red/yell and this caused me a fair bit of confusion until I tested the pin 54 on the ecu to the red plug for continuity.
The rear of the fusebox - the plugs your interested in on a VR conversion are highlighted. You can't go wrong with the engine harness plugs (white ones) as they are keyed to fit the specific slots the red/yell perm live goes to one of the pins in the Y1 slot.
Don't forget to place the motronic ecu relay in the location highlighted here.
A:
Thats only valid if he has a CE2 fusebox, if CE1 you'll need to use one of the spare terminals round the back, labled 'P'.
