MK2 VR6 - fuel pump priming and ISV

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

My car no longer primes the fuel pump when I turn on the ignition after the transplant and the ISV doesn't buzz either - the engine is idling, but it is lumpy. Does anybody have any ideas why? I'm going out shortly to check relays and fuses, but I'm certain everythings fine that end.
A:

You're not the first person I've seen to say this mate. Everyone else i have seen to do this swap says the same.
A:

are you using the VR6 ecu relay?
A:

yes, the ecu relay is in place, location 3 on the fusebox. I've tested the relay and the fuel pump - i know they work. Checked fuse too.
A:

strange. I've heard of fuel pump behaiour issues before but it's been a while since I looked at one.
I do know the ECU controls the fuel pump by earthing one leg of the fuel pump relay using a yellow/blue or yellow/green wire. Is that all present and correct or have you frigged it to get the pump to run?
A:

I jumped the panel connections to check the pump, my multimeter's Lcd screen is buggered, so buying a new one tomorrow to check the signal from the ecu. Car starts and runs fine, just very lumpy and no priming of the fuel pump, which I think could be a slight issue. I understand the signal from the ecu sets the pump relay, is there any chance the car would run with a duff ecu?
Not sure if it's significant, but there's about 50p of petrol in it
A:

check that all the white engine loom plugs are pushed fully home into your fuseboard. the last pic you showed of them they didn't appear to all be "home".
if you've had to jumper out the fuel pump relay to get the pump tp run then you are missing the ECU control to the pump. Getting the pump to prime and run properly is your first job.
Have you tried checking for earth and voltage at the ISV plug? or even tying to wire the ISV direct to the battery to see if it'll run?

I pulled the fuel pump relay to jump the connection just to make double sure the pump hadn't mysteriously failed. All the relays, the ecu and fuel pump ones, are in place.
I'll double check the white engine harness plugs tomorrow, there's always a chance that a connection has become loose inside them. Looking at a friends loom today and his has a few spade connectors come loose from the plugs.
A new multimeter's gonna help.
Cheers for your help, much appreciated

Sorted the problem. The ISV doesn't run on ignition live like my old Digi and is working fine when the engine is started. The lumpy idle....well, I really should have checked this - 2 of the dizzy leads were plugged up wrong by god knows who, meaning the car was firing on 4 cylinders. The fuel pump still doesn't prime, but the engine is running smooth. I'll take a better look at that Sunday.
