Q:
Bare with me as this is my first go at this.Ihave recently purchased a2.1 TSR 8v engine on ebay it is fitted with a tsr 203 camshaft. Could anyone tell me what the valve timing is for setting it up with a timing disk or could I leave it as per normal timing. The block is AGG and I am fitting it in a 1993 golf gti it has a 2e block at present and a digifant system any tips out there any problems to overcome hope there is someone out there who has done something similar !

I know they listed the cam as:
TSR203 cam - duration = 282.....lift = 11.6.....(Fast Road/Club Sport).
If that's any help (i have one fitted to my old mk1 engine).
Is the engine fitted with k-star or some other means of controlling the fueling?

You can try a couple of way's...
Most road type profiles are normaly set to give peak power at around full inlet lift @ 110 or 108 degrees after TDC, so start from there and then find the best setting on a rolling road.
The other way to time a cam you have no figures for (even if you did'nt know the duration) is to split time it... i.e, set the lift at TDC to the same figure for both inlet & exhaust.
I would imagine the equal lift @ TDC figure for inlet & exhaust on that cam would be around 2mm (around .080"), slighlty more on the inlet is ok. Again, a rolling road tune would then be used to find the best power (or best power spread) position.
Either of the above will get you very close to the peak power setting.

fitting a vernier can help as well:

I am not sure of the wiring with regards to ecu etc. I am totally rebuilding a Mk3 and everthing is or has been stripped I have also made a chassis tilter which I think I may make and maybe sell help pay for the rebuild Sorry I went of in a t angent there. Any help or info pictures or antthing would be greatly appreciated. How does it compare with a standard 2.l Regards

TSR no longer trading... see 'Quality Suppliers' thread.

That's because TSR closed down for business.
Mine is a 2.1 from TSR but is one of the older ones 1st built when Tim owned the place.
They will be starting back up in January under new management:
But you can get all the info you need from these guy's (Ex TSR mechanics):
You need to speak to Graham & Adrian mate.
If you don't have any luck contacting them give me a shout & i will pass on any info for you.

Won't a TSR203 be too hairy for the standard management on a Mk3, or doesn't that one have a lambda probe?
