vw 1.8 16v

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

i have recently took on a mk 2 16v as a project and im going to fit megasquirt onto it and need some advice in the dizzy set up, is the 1.8 engine running a hall sensor or is there a crank angle sensor
thanks dazz
A:

anybody?
A:

you will need to fit a trigger wheel to the crank pulley and make a bracket for a sensor (lucas SEB 412 is what I have used) i know some ecu's can use a pickup from the dizzy as a speed input so you may be able to do this if it makes it any easier.
A:

MegaSquirt can use the Hall-sensor in the dizzy. No crank angle sensor stock in the KR's.
Check out the "Engines FAQ's" section - there's a whole thread on MegaSquirting a valver.

MS can run the OEM VW hall sensor as the the trigger.
I should know as I run this configuration on my turbo. Got to make sure the EMS board is configured to do so.
Later engines, 1.8T or AGG, ABF etc have a VR cranksensor which megasquirt can also use as a trigger. You dont have to worry about this.
