my 1986 golf gti is reving its tits off i have had i rolling road tuned also had the timeing set the thing is when you disconect the vacume pipe from the dizzy it settelsdown and idels properly can it possibley be that the iiv is buggerd and incresing the idel all the time any help or sugestions are welcome

try soaking the isv in petrol over night it may free it up, also clean all your breather pipes

It's an '86 it doesn't have an ISV.
Try pinching the pipe either to or from the idle boost valve and see if the idle changes.
Alternatively it could be an internal fault with the dizzy.

is the idel boost valve the same as the iiv what pipe shoud i pinch

I don't know what iiv stands for, it's a square valve with a 2 pin electrical connection and two hoses (about 5mm ID) going to it.
I'm sorry I can't remember where it is on an old K Jet.
