16v ottinger cams

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

i'm doing a 2.0 16v 9a conversion into my golf 1 and am selling the parts from the 8v. i have been offered the cams from an oettinger 16v engine as an exchange for parts , which i am told are gear driven and not with a chain.
i was going with the kr inlet cam, but is it worth fitting these cams , as i've never heard or gear driven cams.
the cams are from this engine, which btw is for sale compelate also.
cheers..

How much is the whole engine going for? If I were you I'd be tempted to buy it and then sell it to the yanks on egay..........
A:

offers over 1500 euro at the moment
A:

Hmm...what's the spec?! Any power figs?
A:

Around 140hp from a 1.6 engine..........
A:

So perhaps a smidge more from a 2.0 16v. I'm in love with that inlet manifold...
A:

These cams cannot be an easy swap into a KR head, surely?
A:

Doubt they'd fit at all....... sell the engine complete!
A:

the seller dosen't know if they will fit either, but says that they use a cam bridge inside for the gears. even so they are for a 1.6 so not suitable for a 2.0. but it is a great looking engine.
A:

All the intake bits for that engine are on the wrong side.. I'd think it wouldnt be easy fitting this into a UK car would it? For starters the intake manifold is facing the wrong way and you'd need rubber intake piping routing it all back to the left side of the bay to the air filter.
Also how can the cams be from that engine if he is selling that engine complete?
A:

Lovley engine and the car looks prity tidy aswell by the looks of it, However i would be 99% sure the cams wouldn't be a direct swap as the base circles and spacing to get the gears to mesh correctly will all be wrong.
A:

They are gear driven cams on the proper Ottinger heads.
There were some Ottinger profiles cut by Schrick on to "normal" chain driven 16V cams.
I noticed loads of Ottinger heads, manifolds, pistons and cams some years back, when the family of the late John Johns were clearing the workshop out after his premature death.
A:

the cams are specific to the early oettinger 16v head. Probably from the french 16s. Best bet is the whole engine

Nice to hear the late John Jones getting a mention, he built some great engines over the years including M.Reeve's 16v screamer and Mark Eliot's 16v turbo then nitrous (OOE 926X) to mention a few. He fitted an Oettinger inlet cam in my 16v about 10 years ago.

Well, there we go - it may fit...
A:

thre motor is for sale compleate as mine is , or it is for sale in parts if it is not sold compleate, as mine is.
but my question is that if these cams are for a 1.6 engine , then surely threre are no good for a 2.0?
