A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Every time I come off the throttle or brake there is a fairly loud click sound that comes from seemingly in front of the foot well on my MK2. The noise is louder when the window is open which to me suggests its a sound coming from the offside side of the engine bay.
As its on the overrun and when I brake, I have a feeling it might be something happening when the engine moves on the mounts.
Does anyone have any ideas?
A:
1) Engine Mounts- open bonnet, apply handbrake, have mate look into engine bay, engage gear and raise clutch pedal (slowly) any engine moevement will be obvious.
2) Wishbone mounts - Jack up front of car and holding wheel at 3pm and 9pm on the clock try to move it back and forward in the direction of travel, you may feel some play in the wishbone bushes.
3) CV/Ball joints - still holding the wheel, pull it out towards you. (make sure your car is prperly jacked up, easier than you think to pull it off!). Do this with wheel on full lock and you can see any play in the ball joints or outer CV's.
My money s on no.1 or no.2
