A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I know these have been talked about alot, but which new engine mounts should i buy?
Im after some uprated/stiffer ones.
The diesel front mount seems a good idea, but does anyone know how much stiffer it is?
Does anyone know whats the crack with the 1.3 gearbox mount and What year i should be looking for?
Can i get these mounts new from GSF?
Cheers,
tony.

anybody? Id only really like to know what diesel mount, and which of the 1.3 mounts was the solid one.
maybe Gsf part numbers? Now im takin the p1ss
A:
If I knew I'd tell you but at least ive saved you from keep talking to yourself on this thread!
A:
Phew!!! I thought i was going mad. Thanks for saving my sanity...
(please write back)
A:
I know that the g60 gearbox mount is stiffer, so would assume that the rest of the g60 mounts would also be stiffer, not sure about diesel mounts sorry.

Cheers.

You want a G60/Late 16v rear engine mount at least, its the strongest one you can buy without going solid. It should handle pretty much whatever you throw at it
Then I'd get a 1.3/Late 16v bonded rubber gearbox & front engine mount. The front mount can be swapped for a solid mount of some kind to handle engines with mega torque, without sacrificing everyday drivability. Sc0rian has this setup on his 2.0 ABF conversion, so have a word with him
A:
Anything about using diesel mounts?
Im not too fond on using a solid mount just yet.. Id like some comfort.
So to recap the 1.3 and late 16v gearbox items are the same, as long as their bonded??
A:
yup, diesel mounts are also the same IIRC. Basically you get hydralic, or solid rubber ones. The hydros don't last well, and cost far too much for what they are
A:
Cheers Rubjonny!!!
So all i need then basically is just the bonded rubber items... And not the hydro ones?
Those prices look pretty reasonable.
A:
yup
You might find that you need to upgrade to a solid front, this is what sc0rian had to do as the rubber one wasn't man enough for the abf. He would get a fair bit of vibration and his zaust would hit the bulkhead.
A:
Lol, ok, thanks for that!!!
A:
i killed every engine mount i ever tried got bored and went for solid...now the whole car rocks on idle but at least its saved me money an time hehe
A:
what engine are you running thats 'eaten' all these mounts?
A:
My ABF mk2 eats those late rear 16v mounts. I had 3 of em in the space of a year and i had a vibratech engine mount for the front. The engine is standard and i don't drive it like a t*t all the time either.....
A:
get vibratechnic's. got them on my my car. solid as.

shakes your teeth out your head tho, me mate had one in his mk 1 gti
A:
Im After cheap!!! Not vibratechnics bloomin expensive...
Any more ideas peeps?
A:
i got my front engine mount off of a guy on here who made it at his workshop. £60 and damn good quality been great for bout year now.
and i got 2.0 16v runnin bout 180bhp and apparantly im a bit harsh on the clutch hence my destruction of engine mounts!
have look round on ebay for solid front mounts but just be carefull heard there is some real naff ones out there
A:
I could possibly get a mount made up by a fabby mate of mine. Thing is id need a design to copy.
Ive seen those ones on ebay, and im not convinced. Id rather buy from someone tried and tested.
