MK2 GTi 16 v sick

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hey guys,
Just got myself a 3 door mk2 Gti 16v off a mate fairly cheap to use as a auto tester/nav rally car.
The body work is sound and in top notch nick, however the engine has a few issues.
I got the old owner to write up the issues so i didn't miss anything. I do have a spare 16v lump in my lock up incase its terminal!!
"The rocker cover gasket and distributor seals keep blowing and oil from these areas fill the spark plug pots on the 16v head and inside the distributor fill with oil till the car stops working.
If you clean the plugs leads holes the plugs sit in the car runs fine for about 2 weeks to a month until the same thing happens again.
To try and resolve this the rocker cover gasket has been replaced twice. Second time sealed with lots of silicone sealer as well which it still burst.
The breather system that runs accross the front of the engine has been stripped cleaned blown through with an air line and there are no blockages in that area. The breather unit behind the oil pressure sender is now hollow. It always has been since I have owned the car as far as I can work out this should have a wire gauze type of thing inside it to breather but not let the oil escape.
All 4 cylinders have had a compression test all 4 passed well within vw tolerence but one was slightly lower then the other 3.
A hole has been drilled through the top of the oil filler cap to try and prevent the pressure build up under the rocker cover that I presume is causing the leaks but this has not stopped the oil breaking the rocker and dizzy seals."
Yours thoughts?

i'd replace the offending gaskets myself to make sure its not just poor fitting or overfilling with oil

New oil filler cap ?
Also just because you changed gasket doesn`t mean to say it was fitted right ?
No offence but it is possible to overtighten it quite easily and if you take off cover sit it on a true flat surface and have a look for any signs of daylight as they are sometimes warped which wouldn`t help.

Cheers for the advice guys, I'll change the gasket and check the edge to make sure its stright.
What setting should i tighten the gasket, using a torque wrench i assume.
Cheers
