A&Q about 350Z
Q:
hey guys, my water light keeps flashing on my mk2 gti 8v, its not low on water, the sender is on fine, no leaks, why would itdo this? it only does it every so often, yet if i turn my engine off and back on it will stay off for a while, then come back, its irritating me as its rather bright driving in the dark with a flashing red light in your face...
many thanks...
Dave
A:
Try changing the coolant with a decent antifreeze and clean water.
The switch works by passing a voltage through the coolant, if the coolant quality is poor then sometimes it can't read the voltage across the switch.

Sender gets cacked up with old age also.
You have to renew expansion bottle to fix.

i had this also but mines was a wiring fault in the dash...i hit it repeatadly and now its fine...lol
A:
Easiest way to check the expansion tank sensor is the following... Disconnect the electrical plug on the expansion tank and loop/join together the 2 pins in the electrical connector (plug) that runs back to the dash. Start the car and if the light stays off, your switch is cabbaged.
A:
mine also does this due to the dash havin a dodgy connection the tacho also has a mind of its own. hitting it stops the disco but i will eventually get round to fixing it properly.

I had these sorts of problems (and the engine running strangely when hot and spurious mfa oil temps) when the earths going from the passenger side back of the head were dodgy.
My mechanic replaced them and all has been fine since!
