A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Hi,
I'm putting a 9A engine in my '90 1.8 16v GTI.
The exhaust manifold on the 9A is knackered - I could hear it was blowing when the engine was running, and on beginning to dismantle to remove the engine, I can see a load of pigeon crap welding on it.
Will the manifold from my 1.8 engine fit?
Would it be worth me getting a "tuned" manifold while the engine is out?
Thanks,
R.

Cost? Benefit?

A:
standard kr one will fit fine

standard kr one will fit fine
Thanks. That's probably what I'll do as supersprint manifolds seem rather pricey since I only paid £250 for the donor engine!!

4 branchs are suspost to make good gains on valvers though

Strange, I was just about to research/ask the same question! Unfortunately (for me), I'm putting my 9A into a Mk1 Golf, so I need a new manifold because the original one simply won't fit. If you are looking for a cheap option and you're interested in the one off my 9A (stock, by the looks of it), let me know.
For info (relevant for the Mk1 owners), there seems to be 3 choices:
Ashley £410.90
Supersprint £531.88-£582.80
Storm (possibly Geo-Storm) no prices yet, I think these are US-based and I've asked if they ship to UK and total costs.
The prices are for a full system, I suspect mating a 4 branch manifold to the original Mk1 GTI system is possible but it would negate a lot of the benefit of 4 branch in the first place (might save a little cash, though).
If anyone has any other suppliers for Mk1 application, I'd love to know!

i thinks ashley do a mk1 16v 4 branch in mild steel. is your 9a from an audi?

Where did you get the price for the Supersprint?

I looked on Supersprint's website and looked up their UK distributor, who are .
The price I gave for the Ashley system, is the only one listed on their website. So I think its for the mild steel one. It includes the rest of the system too, and delivery. My 9A is from a Passat.

OK, I've looked there too. The price for a manifold for Golf II GTI 16v is £320.32 + VAT!!! (part no. 88.26.01)
Looks like I'll be using my KR manifold, unless I can pick something up cheaply.

Have looked. Seems to be quite a few exhausts but not any manifolds.

look in the 'parts for sale' section. there were two in there last week, a tsr one for £130 and another for i think £165.
a 16v mk2 golf/ corrado one is right for your car, i.e KR or 9a engine, or 'short block' its the tall block ABF thats not gonna work.
A:
that any good for yar?

Yes, and no.
Yes - they're the ones.
No - I don't want to spend that much!

Not for me (or any other Mk1 guys)..... It seems we're a little restricted on choice.
A:
for mk1 8v's stainless
for mk1 8v's mild steel
theres one for mk1 16v's
A:
Or you can fit mk2 16v rocco manifold and downpipe
Straight fit, no knocking against your front arb and lots of space between it and steering rack gaitor
If interested pm me, i might know someone who has one
sorry just realised its mk2 you are talking about
A:
Unless you are tuning the engine standard manifold, down pipe and exhaust will be fine i think

Not planning on tuning the engine just yet. Maybe later ...

Its okay - one of us is talking Mk1 and the other(s) Mk2! Anyway, PM sent.

the cast manifolds on kr, 9a and abf are all the samething. I don't think the supersprint stainless manifold will fit a right hand drive mk2. They are designed for left hand drive. afain

The 9A is a tall block as well - a KR mani and downpipe is fine.......
