1.8i DX Rocker Cover Gasket

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I got a new genuine VW rocker gasket the other day and when i tried to put it on i couldn't get the existing studs out. Only one out of eight came out. The new gasket came with all new (different) studs.
The existing studs have a collar on them but the new ones don't, instead the gasket has them built in.
Can someone tell me the best way to get the existing studs out? the grips i tried just knackered the thread on the old studs, but didn't actually move them.
My only other choice is to drill bigger holes on the gasket.
Thanks.

two nut method on studs is usual (one on, another one and tighten them together with two ring spanners. now when you turn the lower nut instead of coming off it imparts torque on the stud, sorry didn't mean to be a smart **** but when you asked I wasn't sure if you knew the proper way to get them off).
if they are well stuck, spot of weld over the top off a nut, heat frees them up, nut acts like a bolt

Dude, you the man. Tried the two nut method last night in the dark and apart from a very stubborn one which i thought might snap, but eventually moved, got them all out and changed.
In my excitement i managed to drop one of the 10mm nuts in the engine and after 30 minutes fishing with a magnet got the bugger out.
Thanks very much.
