Radiator fan: OEM or aftermarket?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

The bearings in my fan have gone and it sounds terrible so its time to change it. Now i know it would be easy to just get one from a scrappy but i'd prefer to buy a brand new one.
They're about £50 from ECP but is it worth paying extra for a nice slimline one? If so what's a decent one to go for?
Cheers

an aftermarket fan would probably cool your car quicker and also save space.
you should be able to get an aftermarket fan for less than £50.
i just bought 2 11" spal fans for £60
A:

just raid the scrappy, pugs have the fans in front of the rad, may make for more room if you are stuck
A:

Thanks guys. I'll probably go down the aftermarket route then.
Not sure whether to go for a twin fan setup or just one large one, any suggestions?
A:

Getting an aftermarket slimline one is great if you need the space, i.e. fitting a turbo and need room for an intercooler etc. But if you dont then why bother?? Scrappy mate.

Tbh i just prefer to buy new stuff where i can. I'm not too sure yey whether i'm going to change my intercooler so i'm going to keep my options open

if cost is an issue go for one large single fan.
if you think you can afford it you could go for two smaller ones. completely up to you.
what fan has the car got at the moment? if it's a stock 16v one then one aftermarket fan would still be more efficient than the original.

Righty ho, i'll probably just go for one big one.

the OEm ones always look more substantial then the likes of Kenlowe,

I havn't yet come across an aftermarket fan that's as strong as OEM so I doubt that any will cool your car as well as the standard one.
Think you have been unlucky. trip to the scrappy inless you are really determined to part with cash for a new one

Went with a nice little Pacet jobbie in the end. Its a lot more powerful than the oem one:
