heya,
does anyone know the exact diameter of the intake pipe as i want to buy a universal induction kit and dont know what it will need to accomondate
My car is a 1991 Mk2 Golf GTi 8V digifant

You don't want to attach a filter directly to the intake pipe as you will bypass the air flow meter, the car will then run like **** (if at all).
You need to buy a bosch maf housing adapter plate and then bolt the filter onto this. Something along the lines of this:

can i not just bolt it on where the airbox should be, surely that wont bypass the MAF senor

yes you can but you will need an adapter the MAF sensor does have a round hole its square.
the abvove mention adaptor will be fine
or by a K&N and get an adapter free!!!

I wouldn't bother with an induction kit. Take the airbox off and inside at the front there is a plastic insert. Push this out, buy a decent panel filter and drill lots of holes in the wing side of the airbox. I found this was better than an induction kit and saves you £££. Just my 2p worth
