Blitz Chip Owners Need Help!!

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hi to all (only registered today so bare with me)
Ok really can't bring myself to buy one of these blitzchips from Ebay for like £50+ when I have a eprom reader writer.
If someone can lend me a chip to copy i can then if anyone wants a copy they can just pay / send me a blank eprom to suit.
It would be a great help if it was for a mk3 16v golf (ABF)! I know there is different versions for each revision of the ecu. (I aint looked at the code on mine) my car is a 1996,
A:

haha best not let Mr Blitzchip (i actually have his phone number) find out then or you will be in big trouble lol!
no seriously good luck, but he might be unhappy if he finds out
but then im sure someone else has done it
i have a MK3 16V ABF blitzchip on my car.....
A:

will you pay for me to hire a car an equally fun car for a week while you play with the chip? lol

good luck Matt lol.........
I'm guessing you had in mind perhaps a Porsche GT3?
A:

how much of a difference in power do these Blitzchips actually make??
A:

well my MK3 2.0 16V is currently running 177bhp
i can definitely say since the fitment of the Blitzchip, more torque lower down and much better power throughout the rev range
for £40, its well worth it, one of the best mods yet!
A:

i think some guy did power plots before and after, but i dont remember who.
mine felt a 5-7% quicker according to my bum. i had it dynod in june, it made max power at 6400rpm, 172bhp.
the car is now quicker for sure and pulls right past 6400rpm.
i get insane mpg. i recommend it.
if i do a cam job, i think i may go for a full remap

i agree, i like mine a lot. you going to the stealth thing in december? i ought to be. ive done more tidying up, plus a decat etc. i recon i must be close to 180bhp now

well i hope so Matt, as i am the one organising it, might look a bit bad me organising it and not turning up hahaha
I dont think the exhaust has added much improvement but i just like getting the car on the rollers and giving her a hammering lol
A:

are you cat less? i think the decat made a similar difference to what the chip made
A:

i read up alot on the decat, some said yay, others nay
the argument was it gave better bhp and felt smoother higher up the rev range but then a portion of the low down torque was lost....
swings and roundabouts really, i might consider it one day
A:

try mine next month i suppose. makes one hell of a rasp between 2k-3krpm mind, which sounds like the exhaust is broken, but you kinda become fond of it after a while.

thanks Matt i will do if thats ok
A:

what about 8v engines have people fitted them ??? Any good ?
A:

is this the one ??
A:

Just fitted a blitzchip to my PB last night. Dead easy! 15 min job and although Ive only done a few miles since it definately feels more responsive.
Seems to pull harder from 4.5k onwards and seems less wheazy. Don't know about the +11bhp claim on the ebay ad but for £20 I'd say its well worth it.
Can't comment n the limiter yet as the car hasnt been warm enough to go there and see if it has been upp'd at all.
A:

I wonder why Blitzchip don't do anything for my AGG engine. They said it was unchippable but I contacted Neuspeed in USA and they say they definately sell a chip for my ECU.

Digifizz are known to lean out at higher RPM's so hopefully the chip solves that, it claims to eliminate digilag too, did you notice that at all?
Nice to hear someone else that doesn't rag his engine when it's cold. My neighbour has a brand new Fiesta ST thingy, he starts it in gear every morning at 6am, full throttle and as soon as it's fired up he's slipping the clutch then redlines it up the road, then you hear him hitting the limiter in every gear once he's onto the main road.
I tried to tell him, but he just looked at me with that "wtf do you know" look.
W*anker.
A:

Guessing from what has been said that the chip seems to make a difference. Although for the money the performance gains are not horrific, I think £50+ for a chip costing at most £1.00 its a not a good deal. (just look at him buying chips online from ebay, he got 13 blaank eproms for under £3 including delivery. lol) Gonna buy one of these blitzchips and play I think, will let you know how i get on fitting it to my mk3 gti 16v abf.
Is there such a thing as copyright on ecu chips? only asking cause I want to help out all the vag community.

Is there such a thing as copyright on ecu chips? only asking cause I want to help out all the vag community. Not sure on the technicalities of copyright on ecu chips, but all remapping companies do it, e.g. REVO, AMD, they read the original codes from an ecu, understand them, and then remap them to give better outputs. So if you or someone else copies a 'performance mapped' chip then you're just copying a copy, although I must admit. The performance maps do require a lot of time and testing to perfect, that's ontop of cracking the ecu security (later VAG ODB2 models, etc..) and also understanding the maps, i.e. what address means, ignition timing/fueling, etc...

At a guess, I would think Mr Blitzchip has done just this, bought/borrowed variouse chips and just copies them, maybe even several different types/brands of each chip and just uses the MAP from the one he gets the best feedback from.

I do the same to mine - it gets no sympathy when it's cold. Feck it, if the engine dies it's an excuse to put in a bigger one.
Though I am thinking of installing a "garrott wire" across the road between 2 lampposts to get the prick who wangs it up the road at full crack on his gay moped at 4am...........

I expect he'd say you're paying for his expertise, but who knows where he got the maps from (as already suggested). £50 would get you about half an hour of a main dealer's time I guess, and a recommendation for a much bigger bill, so if it gets me a few quick and painless horses it's not bad value.
ANYONE - how did fitting one of these chips affect your MPG? I do a lot of work miles in my 8v so it matters to me.

LOL! somehow i thought you might before i even read your post, It seems you give your engine as much sympathy as your liver
As for the hairdryer riding prick, I know that feeling, there's a few of them around here too. You need to use a thin enough wire that they can't see it, but thick enough not to just lop the top half of them or thier head off.
