exhaust heat wrap

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Does the stuff do any thing in the way of quitening the exhaust?
The reason I ask is I have a de-cat pipe which I've taken off the car because it made the exhaust sound like it was'Donald Ducked', like all the stuffing had come out of the silencer.
If I wrap the de-cat pipe do you think that this would help make it sound less tinny?
I'd like to put the pipe back on as it does make a difference, and it's a shame to spend the money on it and not use it.

Same issue here, it makes the car sound like the pipes blowing below your feet. quite annoying but you i got used to it. still bothers me from time to time though, especially when the cars cold and it's worse.
A:

Well I've got some wrap and I'm gonna give it a go. I'll let you know how it goes.
A:

Yes it does quieten the exhaust slightly.

Cool, cheers mate!
A:

Well I've just wrapped my de cat and refitted it. Still sounds crap! It does go better though so I will keep it on for now. Might try wrapping the centre box to see if that makes any difference.
A:

i want to wrap my manifold. no wrap and no chance of removing the man. from the car
i have a decat. do you get a lotta buzz between 2-3krpm?
:D ive actually learned to like it lol

A:

but with a cone filter you can balance out the rasp with some 'grrrrrrr'
starting to sound touring car now :D
A:

Exhaust wrap is a right nuisance when oil gets on it and smells for ever afterwards when the manifold heats up

I have found myself a de-cat pipe with a built in resonator. Should stop the buzz/rasp. Looks like a cat aswell.
