I got a 13 row 256 mocal oil cooler with braided hoses and sandwich plate with a thermostat. Fit's a treat and lowered the temps on my 9A 16v trackcar.

I use a 18 row Mocal one on my 2.1 8v as i found she ran a little hot on the previous build but is great now:

Never went over 110' at a trackday (with bumpers fitted).
But i intend on running her next year without the bumpers when the new front & rear is fitted but if temps stay to low i have the VAG panel cover to block off air:

mocal sem to be the best value for money/parts, youan spend a furtune on a 'super' oil cooler but cooling it too much can be bad news

Yeah you need a thermostat in the line so the cooler isnt working all the time. I got that from think/mocul, but I liked the greddy type anodised blue coolers at ratsport, which was a good price.
