A&Q about 350Z
Q:
whats the best oil to use in my mk2 8v??
A:
You should know by now it's a crime to use anything other than quantumn sinta silver and a genuine VW filter.
Using anything else is punishable by death by tickling squad

Nuff said.
A:
Amen.
A:
but quantumn sinta silver has changed, its now made by castrol isn't it? I was quoted from the sealerships in chester and wirral £25+
A:
GSF are doing a deal at the minute for this very stuff ten quid plus vat,oh and join the club and you will get a discount on top of that aswell,Happy days.
A:
yup GSF with CGTI discount!!!
Its only £4 for a 1litre bottle from VW I thought. Think the 5litre bottles are about £20?
When I last got a big bottle from GSF in Greenford it was £16.99 before discount
A:
Yep defo gsf, much cheapness,I have some residing in my boot at the moment as its too fecking cold up here to do the oil change!bbbrrrrrrrrr

If it is made by Castrol, I'm steering clear of it by a long shot, and I'm talking it'd need a telescope to see me type of steering lear of it.
Every car i have ever put Castrol into, including my golf, my old cavalier, my 406, my other halves 406, my old mans 36k granada and his motorbike have all started burning it and then stopped burning oil once the castrol is out of it and something half decent put into it instead. The strange thing is that NONE of them have smoked, either on startup or when running, but the oil still vanishes
Castrol sucks imo. I generaly use Comma semi-synthetic, I first tried it because they use it in the turbines offshore, which run at far higher temps and much tighter tolerances than a car engine. I have only ever not used Comma in the last 5 years when i need oil urgently and can't get any.
A:
It's not made by Castrol (or the Castrol Group) and never has been. Though it wouldn't worry me if it was - VW specify their own oils to their own specifications. Castrol etc. just blend them, i.e. "make the recipe" as they are told to.
It's Castrol's own blend oils that are famously bollox, falsely advertised, and generally more fit for rubbing into fingernails to soften them before my weekly manicure than putting into a car engine.
A:
And they still stubbornly refuse to sue... must be true then!!
A:
Any good quality 10w/40 or 15w/40 semi synthetic will do, but I wouldn't recommend Castrol Magnacrap as it's really really s*@t!
A:
It's not made by Castrol
Good to know then
However, if it was made by castrol, would the ingrediants for the recipe not be castrols own brand? IE, still castrol oil at heart?
