A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Hey guys,
I finally got the rubber rocker cover gasket kit ordered from VW, however I'm abit confused as I got 8 short studs, and 4 long studs.
I have no idea why there are so many studs and what goes where.
Can anyone help me?? Also any hints/tips on fitting.
Gasket with studs:

Thanks in advance
A:
alright mate
the 8 small ones "026 103 400 A" are the ones that the gasket goes through... just used two nuts locked together and screw it in..
A:
IIRC
you need longer studs for the two nearest the cambelt as the rear part of the upper belt cover is also held in place by the rocker cover nuts.
plus if you have a carb car then you also need longer studs on the front central pair to be able to fit the airbox support.
this is based on an EZ code engine, yours may be different
A:
Ahh thats what I thought. Yes I have the EZ engine, so I have the carb. Looks like Im going to have fun this weekend.
Thanks Drew21.
A:
aaahhh so THATS what they are for
A:
Hehe.
Im assuming all I have to do is remove the old gasket and any sealent left over, clean the surfaces of the head and rocker cover, replace studs, and fit in the new rubber gasket?
It doesnt need any sealent or anything does it?
A:
yup that covers it, no sealant, just make sure both mounting surfaces are clean and free from oil
A:
Ok thanks jonny. You have been a great help to me and my golf.
Cheers
A:
Mine didn't come with the studs, I feel cheated :(
A:
This is the rubber one, I dont think the cork gasket comes with the studs.

And you know whats worse? The kit above is cheaper than buying the rubber gasket on its own

That is the sort of information which makes me want to massacre the entire staff of my local VW dealership.
