i notice it today when i started the car at uni. at idle it sounded like a relatively high frequency tapping. i popped the lid but could not pin point the noise.
i just drove to my gfs place, 4 miles in the freezing cold. the water got to about 80*, the oil got just over 54*. the oil level should be high (topped that on friday).
when i got out the car (engine running) i could hear tapping, but louder than before.
what may have caused it to go tappy? the oil being cold? i am now worried about its health.
im thinking about cleaning out the oil pick up, but that will be tons of work. whats worth checking? what else can be tapping under the bonnet? ill give it a good check tommorow, but id like some pointers on where to look :(

is another 'atf before oil change' week likely to possibly clear this up?

i would start by flushing the oil abd getting some new in there.
the oil pick up shouldnt be hard (im talking form KR experiance but it should be the same) once you have dropped the oil out simply un bolt the sump then the pick up is 2 allen type bolts i thinkl and it comes off so you can clean it out.
