mk2 abf still won't run

Q:

i still can't get my abf to run its got new crank senser, dizzy, plugs a different ecu. it fire when your first try it but cuts out then if you keep turning it over it won't start then stops every now and then like its firing halfway up the cylinder and tring to send the piston down when it should be coming up if that makes sense help i am stuck

tried different ht leads??? done a diagnostic test?

Won't the immobiliser cut in if the engine is out of a later car?

its got a non immobiliser ecu on

Hi all. Very interested in this topic as i'm about to fit a similar abf into my mk2 syncro.

its a recon one off retro ignition on ebay

Has it got 1 or 4 slots in the interupter ring?

1 take you mean the steel ring around the bottom of the rotor arm?

the signal to the coil is intermitant its meant to be a constant flash when connected to an led test light so my autodata cd says but there's gaps in the signal. the wire comes straight from the ecu so it must be decided by the ecu via the crank/cam sensor but there new and the ecu is known to be working and it had the same fault before i replaced the ecu. anybody got any ideas its really stumped me now

The rason I asked about the dizzy is because it should have one cut out and I wondered if they'd given you an early dizzy with 4 and that was confusing the ECU.

Could be a faulty knock sensor.

its got an early ecu on should it have a 4 slot one on now the engine loom and ecu were out of a 1995 immobiliser car that had a 1 slot one fitted so i got a new 1 slot one now i have a early 1994 non immobiliser ecu on do i need the early 4 slot dizzy? i didn't know there was 2 different types

No as far as I know all ABF's use the single slot dizzy.

Basically if it's got a crank sensor, it's a 1 slot dizzy.

any idea's why it isn't working then as i've just sent my mate to make my old dizzy into a 4 slot 1 oops i haven't got a clue now

Have you definately got a spark???

yer i have a spark but it'll spark maybe 3 or 4 times then there'll be a gap of no spark and so on its random its not the coil the signal to the coil is inconsistant i can't figure out why though its got my auto electricain mate puzzled too its really annoying
