MK3 8v problems, any ideas?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hello!
I have just purchased a K plate 8v as a daily driver, got it for a bargain price but it has a few problems. Please give me some ideas so I can have a look tomorrow, any advice appreciated.
1) At speed when I put the clutch down I hear a small kinda grinding noise, gets louder the faster I'm going? The gear box feels fine as does the clutch?
2) Can take 5 attempts to start. It fires but conks out unless my foot is right to the floor on about the 4th or 5th attempt, normally when warm?
3) Im sure it should be faster, if you put your foot right too the floor it seems flat, no instant power, I'm thinking maybe the accelerator might need adjusting?
4) Temp gauge isn't working?
Thankyou.

Any1?
A:

1) Could be clutch realease bearing or main input shaft bearing
2) Have your tried cleaning your throttle body out
3) Get a friend to work the throttle while you look in the intake to see if your getting full throttle.
4) Could be linked to bad cold start temp gauge could be gone, mine was on my 1.8t gave full scale on the gauge and rubbish cold start. cant remember if its seperate sensor for the gauge and ecuon the mk3.
hope that helps a bit
