is the leaking sendor in the picture one of the oil pressure sendor's? i ask as my oil pressure buzzer is going off after about 300 yards of driving and im trying to find out what it is.

yes it is, what engine is that? cant you see the oil deposits on the sender ????

if you pull the rubber cap off the connector on top you should see that the oil is coming out between the metal spade connector and the plastic that surrounds it.

Yer its my 16v gti, not helped by my lack of will to clean the engine bay.
The head was overhauled my a so called "professional" earlier this year at the cost of a mere £1300!!!! shouldn't he have really spotted this?! Said he couldnt work out where the oil leak is coming from.
Im not driving it at the mo-didnt want to risk harm. Will be replacing it on payday!
I hear there are two senders on the engine, one 0.3 bar for startup, and one at 1.8 bar to watch for oil pressure dropping when the engine running at above 2k revs.
Anyone know which one this is?

there should be 2 sensors on there, I suspect its just above that one off the picture. If it isn't then I think we may have found your problem
That one there is the white 1.8bar sensor, it should have a yellow wire and will trigger the warning buzzer over 3k rpm. The other black/brown sensor is the 0.3 bar one, and will have a blue wire.

that makes sense, the buzzer has been goin off after bout 300 yards, have just turned the car round and parked it up when it has.
They easy to change? will i need to drain the oil before i remove it?

nah, do it when the engine is cold and you might loose a trickle of oil, nothing worse than that though

Ta dude, gunna try just makin sure it tight tonight, then runn the car a lil, see if the buzzer still goin off, then if so will replace on payday. do eurocarparts of gsf sell them?

i think they do and so does gsf, wont hurt running it is leaking but the buzzer would **** me off too much

ah right, well i dont really know too much about engines(....yet) so i havent driven it just incase.

I bought the exact pressure sender from GS+F and if I remember correctly including VAT it came to less than a tenner!
But for the 0.3bar sender (with the blue wire) My local GS+F said they dont do it, and i have to go to the main dealer.
