A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I put a recon engine in the above car recently, and in the process the front downpipe was damaged. i was quoted something daft like £150 for a new section! sod that. So I managed to source a 8valve downpipe secondhand for £15. which doesnt have the silencer and is a slightly smaller diameter. it did however fit easily, but where the down pipe meets the middle section I had to cut a small section off the old 16valve downpipe to join the sections.
The bliming thing will not stop blowing! I know it is not a good fit because of the slightly different diameters but I have tried everthing from exhaust bandages, gun gum and those fiddly metal wraps, and none seem to be providing a good seal. I'm suspecting that i will have to get the thing welded, but I was wandering if some sort of diameter bore adapter existed? or if anyone has any other useful ideas they will be much appreciated!

You can buy reducers for exhausts from decent parst stores. They are like a stepped length of pipe that reduces in bore with every step.
