ANY SUGESTIONS.
i wont drive it until it is fixed and i really need it so if you have the sligthest clue just tell me and i will try it.

A:
have you tried the throttle cable?
A:
a big air leak after the throttle... for the servo perhaps?
are the plugs sooty? fuel pressure reg putting loads of fuel in there?
A:
Have you had your timing and co checked?
A:
yep i had the timing and co checked by a place called vw tecknics and im pretty sure he done a good job, it did run well after this for about 2 weeks, oh yea it runs with the idle screw rigth in.
KEEP EM COMING

my idle went sky-high when the wires to the throttle fully open switch thing became disconnected - the switch on top of throttle body
A:
sorry should of said, about 3 weeks ago my car was idleing at 1200 rev's i found out the wires to the idle switch were not connected after i connected them it idled fine but when i went a bit quick (100mph) it went bad again and i got told it was the isv but like i say i have changed it with 5 different ones.
A:
Oh, Bhupinder did it.
A:
thats him

Even though your idle switch is clicking, it may be faulty. Also try spraying around the intake gaskets with wd40 - if there is a leak the idle will get higher when you spray.
A:
cheers il try that. is this a common problem for the idle switch to go. and do you know if it will matter if i buy a vw part or a copy.
A:
It is fairly common for those to go - I don't think you will be able to find a copy part though. It may be a dealer part only.

My car was idling at 1300 rpm as some sort of switch had managed to work itself undone from the throttle body.
old valver engine (nice n clean and idled nicely - has just got scrapped)
new valver (filithy after oil sprayed oil all over the place for a week without me noticing)
I just superglued the sensor back on as it kept popping itself off and she idles bang on 900 now.
Have you had a look at the metering head as well? Maybe a problem with fuel/air.
A:
cheers good diagram i will check that first thing in morning.
