16v Exhaust manifold temperature, too hot?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hey all, does anyone know what sort of temperature a stainless 4 branch manifold will get to on a 2.0 16v? (Mk2) I think i might have wasted my money by buying an exhaust wrap which has a maximum heat of 550c and since noticing there are a load on the market that are good for up to 1100c
Will this be ok to use or will it just melt and damage my manifold?
If its no good for the manifold is there any advantage to wrapping the system further down (standard gti system) or will it just kill my rubber hangers by sending all of the heat to the brackets!?
If i need new, where is the best (*cough* cheapest) place to go to get it and how many meters as im sure i've read a load of different posts saying 10m is ok and others saying at least 30m is needed!
Thanks very much for any help

I had a similar problem, my manifold was cooking the paint on the bulkhead, on tick over ! I bought 10m of x wrap from TSR worked a treat, i think it.s the stuff they use on there track cars so it can hold some mega heat. It was a fairly reasonable price as i remember.

Did 10m cover it all with about half an inch of overlap (i think thats how much it needs?? please correct me if im wrong though!)
Do you remember the max temperature (if it was written on any packaging?!)
Thanks

can it be covered with the man. in place? did it reduce underbonnet temps a lot too??
A:

Ive heard its very difficult to do in place and makes much more sense to do it off of the car, i wouldnt like to try doing it leaning over the wing trying to keep the wrap tight etc
A:

maybe it would be easier if the car was on ramps?
A:

Its easy enough to do on the car.
My 4 branch stainless steel manifold hasnt got any wrap on at all at the mo as I havent got round to sorting it.

heat jackets tend to be better and easier to fit. i have heard of the wrap stuff catching fire once on a 4 branch supersprint manifold, this might be a 1 off tho mate.
