My Throttle Body Thread (pics)

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I need it for my ECU. Looks like im on the hunt.
Cheers martin
Im in the middle of selecting a Lambda sensor. The guys at northampton motorsport mentioned i didnt need it. if the ecu doesnt see it there it works without it.
I would like to use it. i have a connector ready to take a sensor. the universal ones come without a connector. there must be ones that match mine. i will get some pics. if anybody can shine any light on it?

A:

Pics Here of lanbda sensor connector.
any ideas?
A:

i dont recognise that connector m8
but having the 4 wires there, you could splice into it anyway?
neil.
A:

I could do i. but would prefer to get the right connector and sensor.
Is there different types?
A:

ahh right m8,yeah theres diffarent types and obviously diffarent connectors dependant on car make.
i think on all? vw ones the connector pins are in a line, next to each other, they are on the corrado anyway.
and the connectors are prone to breaking, the wires come away from the plugs.
sure someone will recognise what make the connector is from
neil.

what make is the lambda sensor??
A:

james,
could you maybe try emailing the pic to someone like
they may be able to tell you what car its from?
neil.
A:

to save you ££££££££ in mapping time get a wide band o2 sensor in there, martyn 16v got one recently

A:

Would there be any performance decrease if i didnt have a normal lamdba sensor?
What benefits are given from the wide band sensor? and woudl it fit onto the Alpha ECU?

Ok, here's a few injection basics.
A norrow band lambda probe can only read across air/fuel ratio, once outside a narrow area it just shows weak or rich.
A wide band shows a much broader range of air/fuel ratios making adjustments to the ECU map much easier.
According to the Alpha specs it will accept a lambda input but doesn't state weather it'll take both types.
It is also capable of running closed loop. The is is where the ECU reads the lambda figure and corrects the fuel map, giving better economy and adjusting for small changes in engine wear and external conditions.

TB's are the future every 16v should have them the futures bright the futre's throttle bodies
A:

are there any more parts you need to fit itbs ?
throttle bodies
ecu /loom
trigger wheel
crank sensor
air sender
water sender
injectors
air horns
throttle mech
coil pack
crank sender
Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel Rail
Throttle Pot
do you need a Lambda Sensor or anything else ?

3.89 final drive
Sorry, coat...

Chuckle at gary!
You only need one crank sensor
All that seems like all you need. when i say all you need its still no small job.
I think i will run with out a lambda sensor at the mo, when they do the tuning they stick there sensor in the lambda hole and tune with that.
The current progress yesturday evening all the old kjet off.
Moving fuel lines ready to take rubber pips in engine bay.
All going well, but a fuel line cracked, so a frantic run around trying to stem the flow onto the new tarmac drive. Off the to motor factors this morning to get new rubber fuel lines, front to rear. ahh well
Will post pics later

mk2 gti golf fuel lines should do the job, plenty in the scrappy`s,should be just about right length wise

Hello, after along day of what seems liek not a lot after looking at the pics. heres the current state of play.
Engine at before work started last night
Bits coming off it.
Tools and bits
Engine all stripped off the old kjet.
Flowed mmmmmmm
Manifold on, it took 3 hours for that baby to go on. the top bolts where a tight beeeeacth! you wouldnd believe it!
Test fitting the TB's in in the engine bay, any body stop the show stopper??????
Well after today i managed to fit new copper fuel lines front to rear. (Without removing the anti roll bar)
Just done a bit a underseal behind the fuel pump while it was out. just need to run the rubber connecting hoses now.
The bit that is causing the major problem is the radiator now. as you can see in the pics.
any body know which one i can use to shift it across abit and under the front slam panel?
is it a nova one?? any ideas? im abit stuck.
the other problem is the top header pipe needs moving. my mate made a new pipe for it, but it sits abit high. im gonna have to ask him nicely to make a new one.
all in all a good day, but knackered now!
ooh heres a wee movie to show the tight squezze

yep, nova gte rad fits under the slam panel, old style metro top or bottom hose(the long one shortened slightly, reno 19 top hose iirc?)
A:

Will the reno 19 top pipe fit to the standard engine water head pipe outlet??
Does it have an expansion tank? and are the temp sender and fan the same? cheers for the help

good work jim

A:

Does the nove rad fit into the locating holes at the bottom??? off to the scrppy tomorro!
lets hope they have one there
