i run out of petrol in my mk 2 gti and after refilling it wont start it fire for a couple of seconds then dies,i expected this to happen a couple of times as i ran out of fuel but still doing it any help anyone

new fuel filter probably brought up a load of sh*t from bottom of the tank.
