A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Ow do, got a couple of questions,
Got an ABF lump In my Cordoba - about to be fettled with in the new year to take it to the 200bhp mark
1) The windage tray Ive bought has a rubber seal around it, I assume this replaces the normal sump gasket between the block and the sump?
2) I've read conflicting things about the size of the cooler I need, 13 row cooler seams to be the norm for a 2l engine though some say a 16row will be needed becuse of the bhp it will be running.
3) Whats the thread type on the oil filter, I'm guessing 3/4unf like my old 1.4 AEX engine?
4) I've got limited clearence between the oil filter head and the front engine crossmember, by the time I've bolted on the sandwhich plate on and put a standard filter on, I'm certain the filter will come into contact with the crossmember despite race spec engine mounts, could I get away with a shorter filter or best of reloctaing the filter entirely?
cheers in advance
A:
polo filter ? shorter and change it more regularly ?
A:
Thats my thinking Rob, got no obejection changeing the oil on a regualr basis.

Ow do, Stu!

Yes
2) I've read conflicting things about the size of the cooler I need, 13 row cooler seams to be the norm for a 2l engine though some say a 16row will be needed becuse of the bhp it will be running.
I'm sure you'll be fine with either - the oil stat in the sandwich plate should control it anyway. Price difference is minimal.
3) Whats the thread type on the oil filter, I'm guessing 3/4unf like my old 1.4 AEX engine?
Pass, but all hatch-type VAG should be the same. If you're dealing with Think Automotive (who supply Tweeks anyway - Think/Mocal are the same AFAIK), they will know (speak to Matt if no progress with others), since they'll have to supply the adaptor for the sandwich plate.
Question again for Think/Matt. IIRC Clio filters are shorter, and Dogwood on here may have used one on a MK3 Polo sandwich plate install.
A:
Sandwich plate I got has no stat in it, not that I rag it from cold anyway

I run a 13 row mocal oil cooler on track and see about 90-100 tops on oil on a 9A 170bhp mk2. I got a solid front engine mount with standard mk2 oil warmer, sandwich plate and enough space for a standard filter, only just but it's ok.

Went down to Halfords to examine the filters, all the relevant VAG filters do have a 3/4unf thread. Compared a shorter 1.0/1.4/1.6 filter to that of a 2.0 and the height difference is about the thickness of the sandwich plate - sorted
Think I went overkill with the oil rad - got nice ally 25 row one dirt cheap
