engine upgrades or replacement ???

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

hey everyone, recently got a 95 mk 3 golf 1.8, couldnt get the gti as of insurance purposes. too much money! i've done most of the cosmetics i want to do to it but now its runing slow. i think i need a turbo! my money is limited as i am a student...
the engine has covered 107 000 miles do you think it is worth putting a turbo on it, if so what do i need to strengthen it; if that has to be done?
or would it be more beneficial to get a supercharger- what sort of prices would i be looking at...
or my last option is to get a replacement engine, however i do not know that much about mechanics...
PLEASE I NEED YOUR OPNIONS AND A LITTLE HELP! cheers guys an girlies

Oh if only turbos and superchargers were a simple bolt on, they involve a lot of expensive work. So I'd bin that plan
Me? I'd start saving for a GTi, it'll be much cheaper than a modified 1.8 to insure. But if you are determined then put a 16V 2L out of a GTi in it, problem is then you need to throw money at the suspension and brakes.
Sorry but there are no cheaper easy solutions

if ur going for much higher HP then do a swap to a 16v /vr6/1.8t.....
But if then all you want is that ur engine has some more HP then give her a new modified cam, lightened flywheel and a set of carburators/webber/delortos a friend of mine had this done on a 1996 seat ibiza 1.6L and it got some balls..... now being converted to a 1.8t because he wanted higher power....
its down to ur budget gd luck
