Valver loosing water.

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hi Guys,
I hope you can help me out here. My 16v MKII is loosing quite alot of water, but there is no visible sign of a leak. There doesn't seem to be an oil/water mix either. The heater doesn't work, which I think will be down to the crappy bypass valve, and the water temp guage doesn't work on the dash either. Other than that it is a superb car. If anyone can give me some advice on what to do on these problems, please do.
Cheers
Matt

My 16v has been losing water too. Eventually traced it to the water elbow which connects to the front of head via the top rad hose. The water drips onto front of block and drys fairly quickly, making it hard to spot. Also the pipe on the side of the engine can leak and is also difficult to spot.
Remove your bypass valves and fit copper pipes instead.
Check fuses and sensor for guage. Could also be a loose/broken wire somewhere, possibly binnacle.

Check for water stains on the radiator, old rads can weep water that evapourates before you see anything on the floor.

Cheers for that guys, I will check those areas at the weekend. Does anybody have a picture of what the engine bay looks like with the copper pipes installed? And what length/width do I need to get? Do I need to get anything to join the copper pipes to the rubber ones as well?
My brother-in-law did a test on the system, whereby he sealed the exspansion tank with a vacum type gizmo, and pressurised the whole system. There was a slight leak from the top rad hose, but he has tightened that all up, and no other leaks are visible. What else could it be?
Cheers

I had a 16V Corrado and at about 30K miles the dealers found a problem with water leaking from the water inlet elbow on the head. The only thing I noticed was a slight drop in water level when I did the weekly checks. Once the dealer fixed the problem there was no problem.
