A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Is it possible to convert my 1.6 driver to a 2.0l bottom end but keep the carbs?
Ive just reconned my engine, new gaskets, seals, cam, 4-2-1 ashley manifold, webber carb.
Its away getting resprayed and im bored so i got one of those 'bright' ideas v dubbers get. It originally started out as just a new head gasket but then i thought why not start a little project and that was in january 06! wide arches, no plastic, small bumpers, small rims and low.
Then i get this idea. any help would be great.

Yep... Take a look at the 2ltr 8v thread for some ideas to start with.
A:
only issue is the breather on the front, and the dizzy. basically read the guides as if you have a k-jet motor
Make sure you fit a MK2 8v GTI head on it, the driver head/cam is a bit pants
Only issues with this are that you'll need to drill a hole in the back for the coolant feed, but its easily done if you match the size/angle to your old head. You'll have to block the injector holes too, but you can just leave the injectors in. You can also unscrew the inserts & chuck a penny down the hole & screw the insert back in apparently?
A:
do you wrekon i will gain much from it with a webber instead of injection?
A:
Be careful using the tall block as I think you can have problems with the carb hitting the bonnet under acceleration etc.

Just out of interest, what does it go like with the mods youve listed?
A:
i goes really well, ive never had a gti or drove one so i cant compare. it might just be me because i havnt driven a quick car for a while but i would say it is faster than my old vtr and that was quick for what it was and the golf will is a bus compared to that. when i first put the webber on it ran pretty pants, it wouldnt stay at idle but i got it set up and it was fine. it goes allot better with SUPER DUPER petrol in it too!
so im lookin for
1. 2.0 3a audi 80 block
2. 1.8 gti head with the inlet and exhaust valves bored too 35mm
3. decent cam
4. original dizzy from 3a block?
is that about right?
A:
the original 3a dizzy wont work unless it has vacuum advance, but I dunno what managment 3a used. If it was ECU driven you would need to use your old dizzy, and possibly get an adaptor made up if its anything like the 2e blocks...
A:
You'll definately need a short block 2L - 3A or AAD. Both are rare but if you can get the AAD as it uses the same pistons as tall blocks which are cheap if you need a rebore. As the airbox sits on the top of the camcover the tallblock will be too tall, not sure about clearance with a KN pancake filter but I wouldn't run without the std airbox as the weber is a s*d for icing in cold weather.
For a dizzy you need your old one - or better still a K-jet type GTi one, the drive gear from the Audi dizzy and a collar making up so it will sit in the Audi block - I've got the dimensions if you need them.

A:
can you let me know the dimensions please, for my 'random usefull stuff to know folder'
A:
The collar is:
44.5mm OD, 34.5mm ID, 12mm deep and has a groove in it for the o ring which is 3.5mm from the top (or bottom!) 3mm wide and 2,5mm deep.
You'll also need a roll pin for the drive gear 4mm od and about 20 to 25mm long (its easiest to drill out the original)

Cool, I'll put it in a CAD drawing at some point (MS Paint )
