A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I'm in a weird situation, my mk2 gti golf J plate is playing up. It starts fine when cold but went i drive about 10+ miles and stop, it won't start!!
This has happend afew times now, at a petrol station it wasn't fun, i was there for about 3/4 hour and then it cooled down and started fine.
It happend again today and i didn't have time to kill so i bump started it, but the odd thing was it was so easy to start this way. I have no idea what is going on and i NEED my car but this is getting stupid.
So if anyone knows anything please please please reply.

Hi,
Had this problem on my old Escort - turned out to be the battery - the electrolite was low and the heat off the engine was making it give off a really poor voltage to turn the starter motor over. New Battery sorted it out!!
Worth a go - hope this helps

could possibly be the solenoid sticking in the starter motor, i had this on my last car, could start it once, drive it for a bit but then would have to leave it for a couple of hours for the solenoid to drop black in place if i wanted to drive it again

I have a similar problem with my '82 GTI, except mine won't turn over when when hot. I have changed the starter motor, and battery, then discovered that the gearbox was only attached to the engine by the starter bolts and thought this was the problem. I replaced the missing bolts yesterday and had the same problem today. don't know what to try next...... any ideas anyone??

Having searched the forum, I have replaced the bearing that the starter slots into and it seems to be working fine now!!

hello if it starts playing up again then change the ignition starter switch? caused me no end of hassle till i sussed that it was the problem!
A:
It could be any number of things battery, plugs, leads, dizzy cap or as said above ignition switch.until you start taking bits of to see if there worn,it could be anything?

Thought I had it cured, didn't. Started happening again this evening, very annoying. I don't know what to try next. Don't think it's the ignition switch, because there is a current drain when I try to turn it over. It just won't turn when the engine is hot. Any ideas??? Anyone??? Please???

Could it be that your fuel pump is overheating, are you getting fuel through to the engine?
