Q:
Can anyone tell me which way round to fit the heater matrix bypass valves please?
I removed mine to replace with a new one and stupidly didnt check which way round they went.
The silver one on the feed pipe looks as though the arrow should point toward the bulkhead and so should the arrow on the black plastic one fitted to the return pipe be facing away from the bulkhead?

I'm not sure if you can see or not, but the alloy one goes on the right looking from the front of the car, with the arrow pointing towards the bulkhead.

Thanx bud, managed to find another thread in the archive so have got the valaves on the right way round now!

Looks like your heater matrix is ferked then!

take off the valves completely - they're useless

I think VW are selling the valves again...
I would only remove if fitting the mk3 matrix - very dangerous if not!!!!

Not the incident its cracked up to be
Biggest problem was the shock of the sound - didn't know what the feck was happening until my screen completely misted up a second later!

Makes sense to me seeing as the thing is inside a plastic box
