A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I just received my VW original roof bars for my mkIV golf (3 door, or 2 door if you prefer!!) that I won on eBay, only to discover that they don't fit.
The plank had advertised them as for a 2 door, but they are in fact for a 4 door, I can tell by comparing it to the drawings in the instruction book, and by looking at other ads on eBay. The rear bar's clamp is different.
Does anyone here know if it is possible to change the clamps so they fit my car ?
That way I can bill him for that rather than him paying postage costs twice etc... or fighting it out for weeks
Thanks for any help !

Sorry can't help, but for a 5 door do you need 2 bars with similar looking clamps, and for a 3 door the same front clamps as the 5 door but with a different looking rear clamp?

That's right ! The annoying thing is that even though I have never had bars before, I could see this just from looking at the photo's other sellers had on their adds, but the photo only showed one bar end and I guessed it was the front one. WHY he advertised it as for a 2 door is beyond me... he says his son gave it to him and it didn't fit his car... gone right off eBay for a while.
Anyway, it looks like a correct clamp can be bolted in place (swapped over) easily, so need to find time to get to dealers and ask them.
Awaiting email from seller to see what he has to say about it.

You might be able to retro fit the correct clamps, but if you are unlucky the actual alloy bars may be different lengths.
You need someone with a 3 door set to measure the length of the bar.
I only have a set of 5 door ones.
