Question on body kit

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hello all, truly great site here. I have learned a lot reading this forum, many usefull information
I bought brand new 05 GTI 1.8T and I want to put a body kit on it. I talked to some people about it, some say one thing, some other. Some people say that aftermarket kits fit like crap on GTI's, but some say they fit fine. So I was wondering if someone has experience with their bodykits on their GTI and which one they would recommend ? I just want something that will look nice. I really just care about the look of my car, never race it, so I want it to look nice.
Anyway, this is the body kit that I was interested in, but there are many others that I like. Pretty much all of them.
Thanks all,
Slobo

Leave it standard, and spend your money on some decent wheels!
Forget the bodykit... It looks to big and clumpy. Doesnt suit the mk4 imo.
Sorry this doesnt help

Agree, in as much that, the above kit is abit, as we say here, 'chav'!
You're best off afaic, with the anniversary kit - subtle, stylish and affordable.
I think the wheels on the car above would also be fitting.
A:

heh, well i don't know what to say
I was really hoping you guys would encourage me to get one .
I really like my GTI but it's just king of "too simple" right now, and that's why I wanted a more "extreme" look. Kinda like the R32.
speaking of some weels, i have the stock ones that came with it 17 which i'm pretty happy with"
heh, but I still want to get a body kit

Each to their own matey, many people including myself would be upgrading the suspension first of all with coilovers and a good rear arb, then mabey some subtle styling like the anni kit. But living in the states you may not be interested in going round corners quickly :P
I say if you like a kit, go for it. If a bodyshop is any good they should be able to make even a poorly fitting kit fit.

hehe, yeah I see what ur saying, but I'm more into looks than performance
I have never raced it and I probably won't , I pretty much never even pust it above 3000RPM's, except on the highway
I talked with a body shop here that specializes in VW and Audi and they say that they should be able to put it on. I'll probably end up painting everything into some dark color. Debating between dark-blue,dark-green, black ??

definitely agree with above its your car an you should do what you want to her.
imo the anni or r32 kit looks sweet, but then just smoothing the original bodywork can give your car your personal look.
it tends to be school kids that put the big body kits on their cars, imo you should broden what your looking at in terms of style; hav a look at vw performance magazine or some websites for some inspiration. good luck

If you want to go for a body kit, go for it, its not for me personally but each to their own, last year I used for a Mk3 body kit, not the cheapest but it fitted a dream and the aftersale service was brill...
Good luck
