A bodyshop will do anything you want if your paying for it.
Porsche 944 handles look good too, got some on my car

pics damo!?
I'm considering getting something done to my handles because whilst i like to keep the car outwardly standard, it is just too vulnerable to break-ins. And living near Liverpool Street means the *******s just break in for fun!

Audi Handles work Well

A:

Nice gents, nice!
For me, I prefer the Audi handles...
Did you both fit them yourselves?
A:

Yeah, got a pair and had them chromed and then just modded the mechs so they would work with the MK2 catches. Really easy and look a mil.lion times better than the standard MK2 ones
A:

cool- yeah, they do look pretty sweet! But surely these, whilst looking excellent, are still just as vulnerable as the originals? (OK, so you haven't had to consider this)... looks cool though!
How about you Bups? I think they are a wee bit trickier, what with welding and all?
A:

Do the complete shaved look and mount a solenoid button under your wing mirror like the tvr's.

what is this likely to cost? I know i certainly wouldn't be comfortable with bodywork!?
A:

Depends mate. Are you going to weld the old holes, strip the doors of cards and windows and stuff or is this going to be the bodyshop who does it? I reckon (and I'm no expert) but about 300 if you add the solenoid yourself. Quite simple imo, but really affective cos, again imo it looks trick and theres no key barrels for the little oiks to screwdriver out.
A:

sorry to sound stupid, but where is a good place to buy handles? i dont have the first clue
A:

ebay, scrappers, main dealers
A:

what cars should i be getting them off?
A:

Clipper,
yes mate, I'd be stripping it all down and i can wire in the solenoids too- i'm just not capable when it comes to body work!
the problem I would have would be that it's a 5 door so i'd need 5 holes filled/resprayed!
you reckon about £300 for two- and what... £500 for 4?
Dodgy- you need to acquire them from early audis mate. Apparently you have to take some tin snips too!?
A:

LordOpants - Yeah I think that would be a fair quote for the work mate. You could save the guy workshop space by taking the doors off but might be more hastle. Personally I would
A:

Cheers mate- more expense- ho-hum!

Due to the type of locking mechanism used on the MK2, it doenst matter what tyre of handles you have. Some chav scum will still be able to stab a screwdriver through the door and break in if they want to....

Sorry for the late reply, just noticed this thread again, i bought my handles from Awesome i think and had them fitted by SS Body Work in Melton Mowbray (077954217655).. There bodywork and prices are spot on! Or if you wanted im currently breaking a Audi 80 if your after the earlier type of door handles (have complete doors forsale):)
