A&Q about 350Z
Q:
2 things i'd like to know, this is on behalf of a friend at work....
2001 Lupo 1.4s
Want to change the steering wheel to an aftermarket item.
Have been told because of airbag he has to go to a specialist company to de-gas the airbag.
Have also been told the airbag light cannot be disconnected, and will stay lit permanently.
Is this true?
Secondly, he has also been told as this is a safety device it could invalidate his insurance, in the case of a knock, however small.
Is there any truth in this?
Any help appreciated...

A:
Don't quote me on this but...
The battery needs to be disconnected and the system drained of residual charge.
Airbag removed...steering wheel removed...new one fitted...
Resistor inserted into fuse box. Airbag light goes off.
This *will* affect the insurance.
A:
Ok thanks for your advice, He needs to have a little rethink.
Any idea if you can purchase an aftermarket wheel/ boss that houses the airbag??
Thanks again.
A:
why dosent he ring his insurance company and ask?
A:
as far as i know it doesnt effect the insurance, or at least my insurance, i rung mine (ASDA) and tole them when i replaced my mk3 steering wheel, and they said its all fine, but the warning light being in IS an MOT failure, you will have to fix that
