Im contemplating purchasing a used gearbox, stripping it down and reconditioning it etc. Is this going to be a near impossibility? Im not a mechanic but have a decent array of tools. How hard is this likely to be??

If it's for the car in your sig though that will have an 02a gearbox, brokes site covers the 020.

Yeah, i have realised. I think the best thing i can do is source a second hand box from somewhere and rebuild that, trial and error kind of thing. Guess i wont know until i try!!
