A&Q about 350Z
Q:
As some will know from posts last week my clutch stoped workin.
The cause of which was this
The push rod hadnt gone all the way through, which explained why i could still get it in gear whilst on the move, yet not very easily.
Got a new rod, which turned out to be a good 5 or 6mm longer than the old one after it had been worn down.
The whole thing took 2 days to fix, was a complete kunt, and will be something i never hope to attempt again.
A:
I'm guessing the pushrod bush was knackered in the box, causing the rod to wander?
A:
Did you check the flywheel bolts for `torque` whilst you were there ?
Recently had a similar issue when changing the FD, noticed the release plate cracking and the flywheel bolts fatigued / stretching - replaced all with standard items but intend getting some ARP flywheel bolts for the future.
Car is a Mk2 2.0lt 9A ~ 200bhp / 160lbft, clutch had been replaced / flywheel inspected some 1500 to 2000 miles previous although not sure if the items above were renewed then
A:
flywheel bolts do not need to be replaced, though if they have been over-torqued or not tightend down in a cross pattern I doubt it would do em any good. The actual torque figure isn't very high for them either!
I had to go back & re-torque bolts several times when I was doing it too, as pressure was taken off the bolts as I gradually screwed the flywheel right down fully. Worth noting!
A:
I'd rather just change the bolts meself for safety.
A:
There arn't any safety issues with not replacing them unless they have been damaged, they arn't stretch or threadlocked. For piece of mind perhaps
A:
Flywheel bolts were all frigging tight and a right pain to get off.
With a new push rod and gearbox seal the push rod was nice and tight so not sure what the F had happened.
A:
The bush looked ok then?

What about the ones on the friction plate?
A:
Sorry, actually meant the friction plate, the fly wheel ones were easy to get off.
Didnt even know to check the bush, forgot the haynes and had to do a lot of guess work during the process, ah well, im sure it will be fine, i hope.
A:
The bush sits behind the seal in the shaft, I had one disintegrate and all that was left was a load of brass coloured dust.
A:
the ones on the pressure plate definitly need replacing, they are threadlocked and should only be used once

me too and my pressure plate looked like the one above. If you haven't replaced the bush then the same will happen again quite quickly. Ohh and gearbox oil will leak onto your clutch.
