My sister's lupos gearbox has failed at 55,000 miles. The car is a 2000W plate 1.4s
Can anyone recommend a gearbox specialist in the Portsmouth / Southampton area?
Any budget costings to remove / refurb and reinstall gearbox?

£500 is way too low i reckon especially if they have to remove and refit the box, costs to refurb a box are around that price with out the labour of refitting etc

i would be taking that box back to VW, don't care how many owners or dealers it has been through.....55k is shocking

It's was a demo for a few months to 6k and my sis has had it since to 55k. It's always been main dealer serviced. We're quit pi$$ed off to be honest...

My girlfriends Lupo Engine went a few months ago at 21K miles it is an 02 plate and she managed to get a good will gesture she paid only £260 for a brand spanking new 1.4 16V engine!! (the bill was £2700 altogether)
Always worth a try to go through VW customer care, Try your dealer first and see what they say. How old is the car?

I've logged a call with VW Cust svs.
Waiting to hear their view.
BTW - our local vw dealer wants £1560 to repair the car.....
