A&Q about 350Z
Q:
As title - bled the clutch system today on the car and the pedal stays to the floor. Does it just need bleeding further or is there something else I need to check?
Cheers
A:
Has the pedal broke ? Like this.......
A:
Thanks, no it wasn't, I know that's a common problem though.
I've sorted it now, bled the system a little more and pumped the pedal a few times after and it's returning fine.
A:
Pedals only break like the above on MK4's - there is now an uprated part which the dealers usually keep instock...
Funk - if it happens again then change the slave if it's original...
A:
what goes wrong with the slaves?

Funny you should say that, as it's happened again twice. Was reading through Bentley and was considering that it might be that I don't have the special bleeding gizmo they recommend you use, so pumped it by hand using the normal bleeding method. But now you mention it.....thing is, why does it work fine then suddenly seem to fail until it's bled again.
EDIT: oh, and also, it'll only stick when a gear is engaged with the engine running, otherwise it'll return fine. Like I say, if I bleed it again, all is well for a while. Annoying
A:
The original slaves had a metal sleeve inside, this will rot eventually especially if the fluid is not changed once a year...
They leak internally at first so you won't notice fluid ontop of the gearbox until they go completly!
New ones are plastic inside, about £40 from VW

Most probable cause is that when you mounted the clutch master cylinder onto the bulkhead it's slightly out of line, mine was - cured by 'bending' the pedal to suit.
Mine only stuck down with clutch pressed right down.
Twist of the pedal was all that was needed
A:
Gary, I did have that problem, as the master cylinder arm has only a few mm's of room for error before it rubs bad enough it'll stick the pedal, so I bent my pedal to suit that already.
It'll return perfectly all the time, and drives spot on, biting point is bang on centre, etc, but twice now it has got stuck. Once you disenage the gear it'll return, i bleed it and it'll work perfectly for a while, but it's done the same again. Last time I rebled it, I ran clear bleeding pipe from the slave nipple and got some largeish air bubbles, so maybe the system is drawing air somewhere.
